1. Steer the ship, following helm orders and taking into account navigational and sea conditions.
2. Maintain visual and auditory watch in accordance with the COLREG Convention and the requirements of Chapter VIII of the STCW Convention.
3. Participate in deck and navigational watch, observing the procedures for taking, keeping, and handing over the watch.
4. Use emergency equipment and apply emergency procedures on board the ship.
